Paula McMahon

Began her musical adventures in the school choir and then later studying classical violin. After hearing Rock and Roll, Bob Dylan and his contemporaries, Paula was diverted to the British Folk and Blues revival.

She toured the UK, opening for Paul Simon and many others. As an accomplished solo performer, she then formed cult folk rock band “Coppermill”, who were one of the pioneering bands of Electric Folk Rock, and played festivals and clubs all over UK and Europe.

She eventually swapped to Blues and Rock n’ Roll. This then became her first love and she played guitar and backup vocals with Freddie Fingers Lee and Screaming Lord Sutch. She also did “fill in” spots with top UK band Matchbox. Paula was also founder member of ‘Greggi G and The Crazy Gang’. Paula was featured on Lead Guitar and vocals.

Moving to Australia the performing bug bit again and she formed rock n’ roll band “Red Corvette” playing clubs up and down the east coast. The band was on the same bill as Eric Burdon and The Animals.

Paula then linked up with Rick Lum from Hush and other Hush members. This hot line up played clubs and concerts throughout the East Coast of Australia.

A Paula McMahon blues track, “Lifetime Subscription To The Blues”, written by Chris Turner, was featured on the compilation album “35 Years Of Big Rock”.

Paula has just released her first album, “Lifetime Subscription To The Blues”, in Australia and teamed up with one of Australia’s finest Blues Bands, Finn. The album features contributions from members of Rose Tattoo as well as Jim Finn. Paula has now teamed up with Finn, the band, who have toured Australia, Europe and USA.
