History of Big Rock Records.

In 1980 Big Rock was registered as an independent record company in Sydney, Australia, to promote and record local artists. Rock guitar hero Chris Turner and all-rounder Phill Shute joined forces, and committed far too much of their own meagre income to make Big Rock a reality. And now, 41 years on, here we still are.

We here at Big Rock have been waiting for over four decades for the local content laws to change. We have many talented artists on Big Rock, but none that have received ‘main stream' radio airplay. We do however, get massive support from regional and community stations, and over the years this has allowed us to survive in this industry dominated by ‘overseas major record companies' posing as Australian.

We consider our company to be in the Australian Music Business, not the' disposable Pop market'. Our acts are in fact ‘Lifers' and most are still out there working live, hundreds of shows per year.

You can help Big Rock, and all Australian artists by purchasing through this website. Thanks for supporting local music.
